IRIS MOSS

A R T I S T

Iris began her love of fiber art at an early age. When she was eight years old she started to knit scarves for her family and friends.

When her children were young, she enjoyed decorating their rooms with art. One room featured animal printed fabric to create a merry-go-round environment. Ribbons and felt for the canopy completed a charming circus effect. Another of her favorite rooms featured whimsical cutouts of brightly colored mirrored wooden flowers combined with accent strips of ribbon fastened to the walls.

Over the years, her inspiration has shifted towards creating fiber art wall panels featuring yarn, fabric and a myriad of other materials.

With her fiber art works, Iris has created small wall hangings as well as large pieces. She enjoys using metal and has incorporated other commonly found items like drawer pulls to give relief and interest. Some of her art work consists of knitted pieces combined with fabric and other materials such as ribbons, dowel rods, and chains.

Her creative spirit has many passions and outlets beyond the wall panels including being an avid amateur chef and author of several books and short stories. Her suspense story Side by Side is included in Deadly Ink 2006 Short Story Collection.

Her published work also includes the novel Fatal Waters; a mystery that begins with a murder in a Chicago aquarium fish tank, and takes you to Hawaii where the main character discovers that paradise can be deadly.
